Are you looking for green? Actually, you can find green alpacas in many different colors. Alpacas are the perfect eco-friendly livestock. Their feet are padded so there is minimal damage to the pastures. They are ruminants and their method of grazing allows the grass to grow back when given a little rest. Alpaca fiber is a renewable asset. Alpacas are shorn once a year with little discomfort to the animal. They have luxurious fiber on a plane with cashmere and it has many different uses. It can be purchased raw, right off the animal or can be purchased at any stage of processing you might choose. The fiber can also be felted into fabric for sewing or can be used for fiber arts such as wall hangings, hats, purses or whatever your imagination leads you to.
